African Bluewing - 5x4 Riker Mount
African Bluewing (Charaxes smaragdalis)
Wingspan: 3 1/2 - 4 inches
The African Bluewing (Charaxes smaragdalis) has two nice shades of blue, a very dark navy blue and a lighter powder blue. The Charaxes family is a group of swift flying African butterflies. Some can fly up to 40 miles per hour! Not surprisingly, the Charaxes smaragdalis has a very large body and thick, durable wings that makes it a pleasure to work with. These thick wings and body no doubt enable it to fly faster than the average butterfly. Also known as Western Blue Charaxes.
Origin: Africa.
