Giant Atlas Moth - 13x10 - 3D Acrylic Frame
Atlas Moth (Attacus atlas)
- Wingspan: 7 - 8 inches
- Origin: Southeast Asia
The Atlas Moth is a jaw-dropper, sporting the largest wing surface area of all Lepidoptera (butterflies & moths)! It is native to Southeast Asian countries and India, particularly the jungles of Malaysia. The Atlas Moth can vary in color, from greys to burnt umber, to yellow ochre and tangy yellow. Some even have delicate sakura (Japanese cherry blossom) pink in their pattern. The females are also larger than the males in surface area, which are already an incredible size. This giant can only really be appreciated in person!
Note: We've also seen it referred to as a Snakehead Moth― see if you can figure out why!
