Pearl Morpho - Tabletop Display
Pearl Morpho (Morpho sulkowski / lympharis)
Wingspan: 3 - 3 3/4 inches
The Pearl Morpho has a pearl-like glossy sheen that changes color depending on the angle it's viewed and sometimes will disappear entirely. There's several variations of the Pearl Morpho, some have a slight blue tint while others are less blue and more "pearly". This butterfly really needs to be seen in person. They look incredible in direct sunlight but you can't display them that way with any regularity or else they'll fade. The pearl morphos sometimes look great in poor lighting, especially if just a bit of natural light is seeping into the room. While other morphos look fine in riker mounts, we do feel that the pearl morphos lose a little color and iridesence in the riker mount (the glass presses against the butterfly) and look more iridescent in the 3 dimensional table top or acrylic displays.
Origin: South America.
